Titanium

Properties:
Titanium rods are available in all grades, with the most common being grade 5 and grade 2. Rods are typically manufactured in eight to twelve foot lengths and can be easily cut to custom length and shipped. Rods are a universal go-to product for many components made from titanium.

  • Information

Titanium is a chemical element with the symbol Ti and an atomic number of 22. The two most useful properties of the metal are corrosion resistance and the highest strength-to-density ratio of any metallic element.

Titanium is recognized for its high strength-to-weight ratio. It is a strong metal with low density that is quite ductile (especially in an oxygen-free environment), lustrous, and metallic-white in color. The relatively high melting point (more than 1,650 °C) makes it useful as a refractory metal. It is paramagnetic and has fairly low electrical and thermal conductivity.

Titanium can be alloyed with iron, aluminium, vanadium, and molybdenum, among other elements, to produce strong, lightweight alloys. Titanium and Titanium alloys can be used in aerospace (jet engines, missiles, and spacecraft), military, industrial process (chemicals and petro-chemicals, desalination plants, pulp, and paper), automotive, agri-food, medical prostheses, orthopedic implants, dental and endodontic instruments and files, dental implants, sporting goods, jewelry, mobile phones, and other applications.

Another titanium related material we provide is the nitinol, which is named as a smart alloy. It’s a titanium nickel alloy, it presents two closely related and unique properties: shape memory and superelasticity.
